On the Sunday, Agata and I decide to visit Salzillo Museum. Salzillo (1707 – 1783) is a famous Murcian sculptor who mostly realised religious works in Baroque style. In the museum, we can find information about his life and work, but also general information about sculpture and the evolution of the art, and about life in Murcia in the 18th century and the importance of the church.

I must admit that religious sculptures are not what I normally like but I was at a loss for words when I saw how accurate and realistic they were. Altogether, there are more than 500 pieces Salzillo made in the museum. The nativity scene is amazing and at the end of the visit, in a wonderfully decorated church, we can admire the Last Supper… An amazing exhibition !

 
Le dimanche, Agata et moi avons décidé de visiter le musée de Salzillo. Salzillo (1707 – 1783) est un sculpteur murcien très connu qui a réalisé en majorité des œuvres religieuses de style baroque. Dans le musée, on peut trouver des informations sur sa vie et son travail, mais aussi des informations plus générales à propos du domaine de la sculpture et de l’évolution de cet art, et sur la vie à Murcie au XVIIIe siècle et l’importance de l’église.

Je dois admettre que les statues religieuses ne m’attirent normalement pas, mais je ne trouvais plus mes mots lorsque j’ai vu à quel point elles étaient précises et réalistes. En tout, il y a plus de 500 pièces réalisées par Salzillo dans le musée. La crèche est incroyable et, à la fin de la visite, dans une magnifique église bien décorée, on peut admirer la Cène… Une exposition incroyable !
